RTV Slovenia is today on its website announced that the 27th August this year, Mars is closest to Earth in 60,000 years and will be visible to the naked eye as the Moon.
Simple checking for Google reveals that this was partly true in 2003 and is now circulating spam mail via the Internet, which does not claim that the event this year, despite the convincing enough that it is obvious without a shadow of doubt persuaded the USA Today reporter. Shame on you.
